i have a question... if i leave my valentine in my hot car all day..everyday will it damage it? will it not pick up radar on some bands or will it lower the range?

Well this is a tricky one, VR says both the operating range, and the storage range of the unit is well into 100+ degrees territory (F that is). The V1 with its black case is well known to get rather hot to the touch.
All in all I would say if you take it down and put it in a cool place it would be better when you are not in the car for two reasons.
A) It will still be there when you get back (aka not stolen).
B) It will probably be a bit better for the unit in the long run, and its certainly not going to hurt anything taking it out of the hot sun and putting it in a glovebox or center console.
*I do remember someone here recently saying that as the V1 heated up, the range on it diminished, not sure if these were confirmed reports or what, but a few weeks back I do remember posts of that nature (around the GOL testing time)... saying when the V1 got too hot, it would stop alerting to certain bands, or simply have poor detection of either laser/radar*
VR says the hottest for storage is 185 F. I usually just take mine down and put it in the glove box because it wont sit in the sun all day
ok thanks but about the diminshing range is that when it is hot durning your driving or is that permanent from letting it sit in the sun all day

Hot during driving, but leaving it in the sun all day is the most likely way of getting it that hot... honestly its better to take it down, you dont want your 400dollar RD being stolen.

I'm bad about this. I leave my V1 on the windshield (at least above the tint line) all day, even through the summer, in south Texas.
I have never had any problems with doing this (v1.8 @ 3.826), although that magnesium case does admittedly get hot enough to cook breakfast on.
