Default What to do when driving in VA and DC?

I live in NJ so RD and laser jammers are OK but I frequently go to Virginia and DC. Do I just leave the RD off but in plain sight (it will be hardwired) and the jammers willbe installed permanently in a not so obvious but not completely stealthy site in front. With out of state tags, can they confiscate or cite you if the unit is off if you're just passing through or visiting?

Oh no, do not leave the unit in plan sight. This (VA) is a good reason to get a ticket regardless. They seriously do not have to prove that it was in operation, just the fact that they had seen it is enough.

    Default either

Either conceal your rd or carefully run it on the dash but take it down at a winks notice. You can also use the little section of the passenger's seat between the headrest and the seat. Push the headrest down till it is snug on the rd, and you are good to go. What unit do you plan on using?

If you're not going to use it put it in the trunk.

Way too extreme. . . they don't have a right to search your car on the fact that you have suction cups on your window.

Take the unit down - put it in your glove box - and lock it. If that isn't an option. . . just put it in the kangaroo pouch behind your seat.

Option 1 is the best because you can ask the officer to watch you unlock it. . so that he knows you aren't trying to conceal it at the last minute.

Yes they do if you continue to deny you have a radar detector because the suction cups give them probable cause.

Either use the detector completely hidden from the LEO's eyes or put everything away.

VA state police have ordered Spectres and they will have them any day now. Some local departments in VA have Spectre already, but from what I know these are only in small pockets of Virginia.

Spectre is the RDD that detects all radar detectors except for the Bel STi.

    Default well

Stealthjamal has a point. For a little while longer, you can get away w/ using any of the top rd's. But once Specte gets pushed all across VA, the Bel STi will be the only choice for that area.

I refuse to surrender. The trunk is the only place you will not find my V1.

Depending on where you are in Va, they definately will pull you over just because they see suction cups. Rural areas and down south mostly.
