Default V1 programming difficulty worth it?

I had to sell my STi to pay off a little of school but now I'm in the market again for another detector. I had an X50 before my STi and didn't really have any problems with it.

Anyway, I'm very much considering buying the V1. False alerts get annoying but I had those with my other detectors as well (I always drove on highway mode, even in the city). Well I was reading that topic how about how to program your V1 for newbies and my god... should I just buy another STi or is the v1's complicated programming worth it? I'm thinking maybe you program it that once (to turn X off and the K-auto muting) After that is it easy to switch back and forth between K automuted x-band disabled, to full sensitivity with x-band disabled?

Well please let me know if the v1 is worth the programming headaches. My STi and X50 were extremely easy to program but I want the performance of the V1.

    Thanks!

yes, it is easy, the instrucitons just look daunting with all the tables and graphs

switching between automute and full sensitivity is as easy as holding a button to change modes

I wouldnt say its convenient, but it is easy.

You will have to keep a copy of the programming options around if you want to change somthing when you are on the road.

V1 programming is really not hard if you owned another RD. If you find it that hard then you will face many insurmountable challenges in life.

Go to valentine1.com and download the programming guide. The first 4 options are just to determine which bands you want enabled. Options b-g don't even apply unless you have option 7 engaged.

Just read it over a few times and then put the arrows in the configuration you want. Its really not that hard. I programmed it just fine my first few hours of owning it.

It's extremely easy. I know the graphs look daunting, but it's extremely easy.

Admittedly it looks pretty daunting the first time. But once you have done it's then much easier. Nonetheless, I always keep the documenation at hand when I do it. I also step through all the program setting again at the end just as a double check.

Having my V1 as a first detector. (other than a 30 dollar crabra i bought for a road trip which didnt work and was promptly returned)

I thought it looked hard to program, and put it off because of that, however, I just printed the charts and instructions off, took them out to my car, held my V1 in my hand using the coil cord since my hard wire cable is hidden, and went to work.

It took me maybe 10 minutes, and it really was pretty easy. Just pay attention to what your doing so that you dont disable Ka and Laser on accident lol...you'd pretty much screw yourself if you did that.

Once you have the instructions printed out next to you, you'd have to be a moron to have any trouble programming the V1.

It took me all of 90 seconds to disable X-band on mine.

Just keep the instructions in your glove box if you think you're going to want to adjust the settings later.

Holy ****ing ****, why does this forum display "moron" as "idiot"? That just makes ME look stupid by making it look like I typed "a idiot", which is grammatically incorrect.
