Default Leaving the V1 mounted high in the car and heat issues

Do you guys take down your V1 after you park or do you just leave it there? Would leaving it there up high and the heat affect the V1 to cause performance to diminish? I am pretty lazy to keep taking it off and on everytime, just wondering if I should invest in that hard case when I do take it off for storage. Thanks.

I live in Florida. I ALWAYS take it down for three reason:

    (1) Might tempt criminals to break the window and steal it.

    (2) It's way to hot to leave it there.

    (3) I use a windshield sun reflector and the V1 would get in the way.

In high heat situations, I'd definitely take it down. My rule of thumb is that if it's over 80 degrees outside and I'm gonna be away from my car for 15 min or more, I take mine down.

So do you just put it in the glove box or take it with you? If in the glove box, what do you put it in?

I put it in the glove box. I don't put it in any sort of case or bag...I don't see any reason to. I've got so much other crap in their, it just kind of fits perfectly in the one little space that's left, and sits there.

However, I've been wondering whether, now that it's summer, maybe my glove box is even too hot for it. It's been pretty hot when I've taken it out lately.

Although I don't have a V1, I always take down my RD, put it in the case, and put it under my seat (since the air is always coldest near the floor) unless I'm running into a store for 5-10 minutes.
I've seen a v1 toasting in the hot sun... what a waste of 400 dollars. Saw a detector (looked like rx65 but had a click wheel) under the brutal sun earlier.

An easy way to understand how heat affects electronics is to leave your cellphone clipped to your visor. After the car's been under the afternoon sun for 5-6 hours, take down the cellphone, and the LCD will be barely readable (and this was not in direct sunlight!).
Do the same thing and put it under the seat: viola, LCD won't be messed up (as bad).

I don't take mine down except in rare occurrences, even though I live in GA and heat could be an issue. It's easy to take down, less easy putting it back up. Basically I only take it down if I think there is an above average risk of theft.

It was between 80 and 85 today and I accidently left my V1 in the window for a few hours. When I got back I tried to take it off the windshield and let me tell ya u could of fried an egg on that thing, I literaly burned myself trying to take it down cause it was so hot. So yea its a good idea to take it down IMO.

    Default Temperature Policy

What I do since here in CA it can get monstrous inside a car is if it is predicted to be higher than 90 F I will take my V1 (VAL) off her mount and store her in the center console.

Definitely I believe you could fry an egg and then some I actually had to use a cloth to take my V1 down the other day so imagine how hot it was inside my car with an outside temp of 100 F + :!:
