Default I-PASS causing only laser alerts, but not K or X?

So I recently purchased my first V1. I am running it in A at all times, so I learn what is causing what.

I go through I-PASS every day and I noticed that laser alert is being generated, but never any other.
What the heck are they using that causes such an alert?

Depending on the equipment they use, it could be some sort of sensing equipment, or the infrared illuminators used by the video cameras that cause the alerts.

The EZPass booths in NH cause laser alerts too.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

I assume you're in IL? The same thing happens to my V1 whenever I go through the I-PASS lanes.

check some of the previous threads about it. the general, however unfounded due to lack of press releases, consensus is that it's used for detecting the proper amount of toll deducted for mutli-axle vehicles. a press release confirms this, but doesn't mention laser.
