Default Waiting for STi to be repaired... should I get a V1 to try?

    Hi,

Some of you might know that my STi is being repaired by Beltronics right now... and it's been there for over 2 weeks. I am heading out on a road trip (DC -> Maine) this Friday and definitely can't be unprotected. Should I use this as a chance to try out a V1? I'd rather not get stuck with two expensive detectors, so I'll prob end up returning the V1 or selling the STi depending on which I like better.

Obviously I know everyone here is going to say go ahead and try out a V1. My question is more about timing... is now a good time to buy? I've been trying to keep up but want your feedback on the current version of the software. Also, has anyone returned their V1, and if so how hard is it to do it... do they make you jump through hoops? Can you return a refurbed? Are there no restocking fees even for refurbs?

Also, do you know where V1 ships from? Just trying to figure out about how long it'll take to get to me.

Update - Just ordered a refurb... of course they said none in stock but we'll see how long it'll take to get shipped out. I might have to sell my STi when I get it back.

It ships out of Cincinnati, OH. So it should be at most 2 days ground UPS or 2 days USPS Priority. If your time sensitive I would of just paid 25 more dollars and gotten a new one shipped out today.

I have it drilled into my head to only order refurb from Vanetine thanks to this forum. If I don't hear back tonight I might call in tomorrow morning and change it to a new one.

Yeah try the refurb out, chances are, it'll be just as good as a new one anyway. You should ike the V1, having owned an STi previously, it was cool just to get a detector that was different (different look with the arrows and such). But either way, both are great detectors. Let us know how you like it.

    Default try

What have you got to lose? Give it a try, you have 30 days to make up your mind on the V1. Just don't forget that their is a manufacturing variance between all different rd's.

Anyone know what time V1 normally ships their stuff out? Do they do it all at night like Amazon or do they do it earlier?

Just be sure to go ahead and send it back before the 30 days are up unless you're 100% convinced that it's working as it should. If there is any doubt at all, return it. After those 30 days, it doesn't matter how worthless it is, they WILL NOT make right on it.

Mine's a Cobra-Class paperweight for 35.5 Ka, but they insist that it is within spec and won't do anything else. I can't even sell the thing in good conscience, so now i'm just stuck with it.

Consider just giving $400 to a good charity. At least you won't get speeding tickets as a result of that.

Well, assuming it gets here in time I'm going to get some good miles on it... probably 1,000 or so in 2 weeks.
