I used to have a Whistler radar detector that never had arrows or anything fancy. If it went off, I knew by the tone what band it was. I never looked at it because there was no reason to.
With the V1, I notice I look at it a little more than the old detector I used to use. Mainly it's because I use the arrows to see what is going on. Today, I pulled out onto a road and I was getting a Ka alert with 2-3 dots to my rear. I didn't see any cops close behind me, so I sped up and did my thing. Usually I'll get 2 miles of detection on that road, so I could have been driving the speed limit for no reason with a normal detector and looking up ahead for where the cop is. Instead, I assessed the situation and kept on going. That's why I love the V1 (it does have its flaws though).
