Default V1 around the curve video - good range or not?

Not sure if this was good range or not. It was on campus where the speed limit is 30MPH (not that it matters) and I was doing around 50. I had enough time to slow down enough, but it seemed just barely (maybe three to four seconds).

    The gun is a Kustom KR-10 and I have a V1 3.858.

I used to have it mounted under the RVM in the center, but I noticed I get better range where I had it... is that ok for mounting?

Should I get my V1 sent in to be checked? I used to get the same range when I had it in the middle, but now I don't get as good of range. When I have it up high, the range is like I used to have it.

That is not all that great, unless he just turned his radar on. V1 is normally much stronger on K band, even around curves. I would send it in to be checked.

Even on Ka band you should be getting better range than that IMHO.

Yikes.....drive around some more and see how it acts. Because the only time that happened to me was instant on but i got a full blast not a ramp up like that. like GTO_04 said he may have just turned it on

I think it was already alerting before the video started.

Either way, that was a major curve so you can only expect so much.

that was a pretty terrible alert. i'm not sure what to make of it but you didn't get a ticket so that's good!

Another thought that comes to mind...........The cop may have just turned onto that road. And that will cause an alert like that, which would be totally normal. Were there any intersecting roads nearby?

It could have been instant on, but it would not be logical for the LEO to release the RF hold when he could not see the target. The ramp up was not like a typical I/O alert at such short range. It should ahve been a full blast when you are that close.

So I think it is one of three things, either the cop just turned onto this road, he just turned his radar on, or K band reception is not up to par.

Nope. I'll edit the video so it shows more time of it not alerting. I was driving around today with the purpose of getting to see how the range is.

They don't use instant on... they always have their guns on.

He was on the same road since there couldn't have been anywhere else he was.

Here is another example of the poor Ka performance (NONE) on the Stalker ATR. The brake lights is the patrol car running constant on Ka. He is driving parallel with me (both are going straight in the same direction).

Here's another example too with the Stalker ATR. I backed into this parking spot and the patrol car drove by me and the red car. When the patrol car got to the red car in the parking lot, the alert stopped and I didn't hear a thing.

    Hard to tell....

Maybe the cop did a u-turn just ahead of you thus the "range" was weak. Maybe the cop just turned it on to constant-on while driving?

You just never know...that is why CONTROLLED enviromental testing is important.

    I love my V-1!

I just got my V-1 back no more than a month ago, with the update from 3.fouryearsago to the newest version, and it's amazing how out of tune my V1 was. Seeing your video reminds me of how my V1 was performing right before I sent it back in.

I drive from north Louisiana to Baton Rouge once a week, and my updated V1 is giving me almost a full mile of warning for both K and Ka for all of the po-dunk towns I drive thorough. All of which use constant-on.

Long story short, I'd send it back.

good advice but he has the 3.858 which is supposed to show an "E" if it's out of tune. some times freak things happen.
