Default WOW my V1 is so much quieter now!! Thanks for the sugg!

Okay, I've been a long time reader and deep down I hated that my V1 was so noisy around town. Every time I had somebody in the car, or somebody on the phone people would get annoyed at the constant beeping. I had started to take the detector off my windshield for shame. Finally I decided to take the suggestions of the experts:

20 second delay on K band (don't have the guts yet for 30 sec delay)
Unmute K band at 4 bars
    POP off
    Mute K band from behind
X band totally off (I live and drive in the West, never seen X band... EVER)

Results: EXCELLENT!!! I rarely get falses anymore. I would get about zero falses if I had the guts to go to the 30 second delay. All the real LEO's still come through. Not a single J yet.

Question: If I go to "A" mode on the highway, will X band still be turned off? Will the K band be unmuted from the rear?

    THANKS!!! LOVE the changes!!

Well as I have read from the stickies on here A mode or All Bogeys mode will cancel everything except that X band will always be off regardless of the mode. I hope that is right as I am pretty sure.

Yes in A mode it will cancel the automuting for K band. In little l (logic) mode it will show but report at the muted volume. In big L (Advanced Logic) it will not show ir sound any alert until after the 20 seconds and then it will report at full volume.

    Yes sir

Think of A mode as ALL mode. All settings are off

Yes, A mode overrides any k band automuting you have programmed. However, it doesn't override any bands you have disabled in programming mode (such as x band)

Cool stuff, sounds like I may need to get my self a V1. It’s like adjusting the sensitivity down to a more appropriate level for city driving.

With all the delay settings turned on and x band turned off will the V1 be almost as quiet as the 9500I?

Not in my experience. I just got my V1 updated. It certainly is MUCH quieter with the above settings (I don't have rear antenna off, though), but it is not as quiet as the 9500i. Truthfully, I enjoy having both. I anticipate using the 9500i in the city and V1 on the highway.
