Default V1 = One Chatty SOB

Ok so i chose the V1 based alot on opinions on this site. Was tossing up between it and the STi.

All I have to say is, to the people recommending the V1.. Do you all live out in the sticks or what?

I've had it in my car for 2 days in Advanced Logic mode and its driving me bloody nuts. Never have i had such an annoying radar detector. Every automatic door within a 5 mile radius seems to set it off..

You may use the defense that its just so sensitive and that good.. But when it never shuts up your more incline to to just ignore it when its legit.

    Hello,

    Go to little "L" mode...

remember it has TWO horns, one forward and one back.. so it will hear more then a 'normal' detector. If you could put 2 8500 x50's..one forward facing and one facing backwards...you would hear that much also...

    take care,

    spin

Try and search for some of the threads on changing your V-1 to suit your driving needs. For example: rear K band turned off, K band mute for 20 seconds, X band off and POP off, and other modifications you can make. Ace Racer just made a video that explains how to get into the programming mode and what each option changes.

I think you have the best, but you need to program it to be "less noisy".

I think if you were influenced (and beleive me, lucky you) because of this forum, you should have read also the several threads there are on the most suitable V1 config for eatch one.

You wont be disapointed, you have the N1 of the market.

being the most sensitive detector available hand having 2 antenna's companred to the industry standard of 1 antenna means double the falses

Wow, I recently just bought a V1 myself, and living in the 5th largest city, I find it very quiet. It goes off maybe 2 or 3 times to work and they're all minor blips of motion detectors. I like it so far, although I turned off X and POP since they don't use it here.

every location is different. when I was in Dover, DE it was insane! 9 Bogeys for 5 miles and it went wild.

but by muting the rear antenna, and putting on the 30 second K band delay, turning off pop, it really helped. but it was still chatty.

now that i'm in KY I can leave it in A mode all the time with no probs

I run it in A mode most of the time in Omaha, Nebraska. And I dont have much problem. Even with X still on, even though it isnt used here.

I am trying to figure out a good auto-mute for the K band drones we have on the highway, but am still searching.

Mine goes off maybe 5 times on my daily commute, not counting the stupid drones. Usually one or 2 are K, the other X, so my isnt chatty in the slightest.

I had read a lot on this forum about how chatty it is, and didnt really believe it till I drove down the street flanked by car dealerships. Bogey went to 9 and the display would have caused a seizure to an epileptic.

It mostly depends on your specific area and what kind of automuting programming you have set up.

V1 Dave, I am still waiting for a reply to my PM. Thanks Man.

Yeah, same here. I've got X band and PoP switched off and leave the unit (3.818) in A mode* most of the time. I get virtually no falses and range against LEO is breathtaking. I live in a major urban area.

FWIW, I drove to VT (190 miles each way) and back last Friday and the highways pass thru some heavily built up areas, obviously. The unit was in A mode the entire trip. I did not get one single false alarm. I did pick up Ka from an LEO hanging in a construction zone. Prolly had a 1+ mile range. Apart from that, it was a very quiet ride. Ohh, yeah, I did get the laser false alerts when passing thu the toll booths in NH.

*I have restored nearly all custom settings to default, I had been running the "preferred" custom setting for years and realized it was creating far more false alarms compared to the default settings...

i didnt read anyone else's post so sorry if i am repeating anyone, but you need to program your v1. take a little time to do it and your experience should be a little more pleasant. this rd is a little more tricky than your used too and if not programmed will pick up every real radar source (within each given frequency) that is around (unlike the user-friendliness/filtered bel/escorts).
