    Default V1 in a Nissan Frontier

    i figure since ive gone from lurking to posting the past few days, ill share the pics of my install. i mounted the V1 just below the rvm to avoid those nasty bubbletint marks, plus so its more visible.(possible remote display in future). when parked...the V1 gets locked in the glove box.





    i wired it into the fuse box which is in the glove box. i ran the power cable up the side of the WS and across the top, then around the rvm post to act as sort of 'safety line' should it ever fall while driving.


    the HW adapter, i removed the velcro from the back and krazyglued it to the side so the wires werent protruding down at the passengers feet, so they would be horizontal....to avoid any snaggs.

    Looks like a nice clean install. Great job! Just wait till you get that remote display.

    thanx. i initially had some issues with the mount remaining level. i would put it up, click it into place level, then as i drove, it would vibrate out of place and end up pointed slightly up(guess it was in the gap in the notches on the top)....so i found a good solution for that. again....krazyglue comming to the rescue. ive played guitar for about 15 years so i took a guitar pic and cut it to a small rectangle and glued it to the tooth on the windshield mount(on the front facing edge so it fit perfectly). then i sanded it down until it would rest and not wobble from level. adding that extra girth to the tooth really made it much more stable too. it doesnt move even after the nastiest of potholes. it drove me nuts how it would shift, and the next notch had it pointed at the road.........do i have OCD? heh :P

    If you do go with the remote display, my suggestion would be to move your v1 to the right and just below the bubbletint. The mirror will disguise it. Leave it just enough to the right of your mirror so the rear antenna will not be blocked. You'll lose the rear laser but that's a non issue since its laser and if goes off, its too late.

    yeah, i was thinking either doing that....or seeing if i could remove the tint crap with a razorblade????anyone tried that?? so i could mount it above the rvm. right now i have the mirror stem pushed up as far as i can so i could put the V1 as high as possible while still having clear views front & back.
    its only a matter of time b4 ill need a new windshield...its already dinged only 1 month after being replaced....*beep* rocks! maybe ill request one with no tint....just clear and apply a film tint strip with a small rectangle cut out for the V1

    I had mine mounted behind the blue tinted area(factory tint). Good thing about it is, you can't tell you got a radar detector from outside.
