Default Went from rx65 to V1 - My thoughts.

Well, I ended up taking the dive and bought a V1 off of eBay (yeah yeah) that came with the latest revision and box.

Anyways, I had a Bel rx65 before I bought a v1, and the rx65 did a good job for how long I had it (2 months, 4-5 saves). I decided to go with a V1 due to all the praises it received, better(?) IO detection, and the arrows.

All too often I would run into an alert and not know where it's coming from with the rx65. Needless to say, this irritated me.

I've only had the V1 for one day, and since I live in the boons, I doubt I'll see much action for a while (till my Thanksgiving trip). However, I wanted to comment on the arrows.
Jeez, confusing little sucker for someone who hasn't had a v1. The rx65 would just alert and display multiple signals whereas the V1 shows where all those signals are coming from. Got up to 6 bogey's in my hometown (too many door openers near the road) on advance logic.
I took some advice from the forum and enabled the K rear automute w/ 30 second|4 LED threshold w/ pop disabled. Still trying to tweak and learn it. I need to spend more time playing with the K automute to make sure it's working right for me. I think I'll put it in the Logic (big L) mode when I go back to my hometown to reduce those K bogey's in the back.

My only complaint in the short time using the v1 is the signal alert. It's pretty hard identifying bands in the dark (and if there's multiple bands). I know I could get a modified v1 display, but that'll have to wait. It'd have been nice if the LED lit up the X, K, KA letters next to the dot as well.

I have to say tho, the autodim is a nice touch. The V1 is real life is much much smaller than I imagined from the pictures. Guess I'll go find a door opener that I can test the range out on haha.

Just a question tho: If I set up the K band automute, it has no effect on the front antenna right?

Turn off X band if its not used in your area, that will quiet it down alot.

Seriously thinking about it, but I've yet to figure out if X is used in Western Kentucky. I know X is used in two locations around north eastern Kentucky around Alexandra but have yet to confirm X it used where I live. Never ran into it either, but you never know.

It will mute front K band alert at desired muted volume until threshold is met and time has lapsed. I suggest that you turn muted volume at 12 o'clock so you can still hear it at a non annoying alert. It also took me a long time to fine tune my V1 but once you get the right set up, it works wonders.

I would compare her to a RMR detector. Her morals are right up there with Churchman's.

the difference between big L and little l are that L does not show a muted alert. So changing from l to L isn't going to make the detector much quieter. The muting is going to work the same way, its just that muted alerts will not be reported in any way.

VR needs to start listening to its customers. You hear the same thing about the V1 from new users. Its always a complaint about same color LEDs and band identification. Many new users have trouble understanding the programming and modes. If a company hears the same complaints over and over again they should change something.

yes the programing is not trivial , the mute works upside down (to what it should be and to Escort) just doesnt make sense to me . yes i know the common explanation here. but i don't buy it. should alert then mure . and not the other way around. Or just have both ways.... it's really no big deal to make that ... few more line codes to the uP.

Second thing , if you have such "in depth complex" programing may as well let us change everything. and not just few parameters.

yes the color of the LED or the way of the display is no good. it's impossible to distinguish between k to ka at night.
