Default Suction cups keep falling off from windshield

I cleaned the windshield already but to no avail. I have to mount it on my visor as backup. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Suction cups may be bad (once i had a hole in one of mine which reduced the suction effect)

I recommend cleaning with lysol (both the cup and window). I think it works even better than windex. You can try swapping out suction cups and also try the large ones that V1 includes.

Same problem here on 3 cars and 4 sets of cups.
I've noticed several things. If you get them to stick and LEAVE THEM ALONE, IOW remove the detector but leave the bracket (dangerous for theft IMHO) they stick forever.

However if you remove them after each trip, like most people do, it becomes very frustrating watching a $400.00 unit fall to the floor.

I solved the problem in my Mustang GT by using the 3M locking Velcro which is the clear stuff they use on EzPasses.
This even allowed me to mount up on the raised dot pony emblem and effectively hide the unit, even in my convertible.

I've been using detectors since the 1970's and the V1 mount while one of the best in terms of design is the absolute worst I have ever used for cups sticking.
With my Rx65 I can literally reach forward and the first place the unit hits, it sticks and stays.
And the cups on that unit are several years old.

I've heard the Whistler cups are good but have never tried them.

I found that if I mounted my V1 just above and slight of the rear view mirror, the bottom of the V1 is mostly supported by the top of the RVM. In the case of a suction cup failure, the V1 would not plummet to the floor (even though I'm sure it can take a fall without any damage due to its magnesium case).

Are there any aftermarket suction cups available that can do a better job the the stock cups? Thanks!

There are better suction cups. You can get them at your local Michaels Arts and Crafts. The brand name is ADAMS and they come in a variety of sizes. I bought a variety pack (2 small, 2 medium, 2 large), and I have to say that they are absolutely fantastic. I have tried the new large Whistler suction cups and I have to say that these are actually better. I can confirm fit on the V1, the BEL bracket, and then large Whistler bracket.

Please refer to this thread regarding these suction cups:
