Default Making replacement cable and plug

    hello.

i want to build my own cable and plug for my v1 since i cant find my original one are there any things i need to know about?

i have a pin diagram which im not sure about so heres what i have already.

    pin
    1 - not used
    2 - Data
    3 - Ground
    4 - 12+
    5 - Mute
    6 - Not used

so i connect pin 4 to 12v and 3 to ground using an internal fuse located in the plug.

is it possible to just take a plug from a telephone, cut one end off and connect pins 3 & 4 respectively? then plug it into the V1 and car so long as a fuse is present?

    Thanks

    Your diagram is correct.

Do you intend to use a power switch on your cord?If so then be sure to
connect the switch on GROUND wire, not 12+VDC and use 1A fuze

Since you are making your own power cord,it might be a good idea to add a remote mute button, too. Here is the diagram.Make sure you use 1/4W 5 or 10k resistor,if you do this.

Yeah, they're the same as telephone cords, its called rj-11 I believe. The stuff is pretty cheap from VR, it might just be cheaper to buy a new hardwire kit from VR or eBay.
