V1 arrived Friday 10/12:
Prior to arriving:
I have been reading this forum off and on for over a year. Although I did my research a year ago, I fell into the trap of many others of buying the RD that was budget friendly. I bought a V995 a little over a year ago and feel I made a good purchase. However, reading the board and seeing the V1 praised by experienced users as well as results in many reviews it was always in the back of my mind that I wanted a V1. When my V995 went on the fritz two weeks ago, I felt like this was a good time to purchase a V1. I was not going to roll the dice and purchase from an auction site to have to send it to V for tune up etc. so I bought it at the v1 website. Prior to arrival I was having dreams of arrows and V1 saves.
The box is full of goodies. I reached in grabbed the suction cups and RD and with my V995 hardwire setup, plugged in my V1.
I was at a Fed Ex store and immediately it goes off. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 bogies arrows going off. I think to myself this is strange, not that it is going off but cause I figured it would, but how the heck do I interpret the 8 bogies. Also, it is so small. Looking at the avatars and pictures the RD looked a lot bigger than it really is. I could not tell if it was X, K, KA band alerting. Maybe I should have looked at it first, but being a normal guy, I opened the box and turned it on.
Driving around I noticed myself fascinated with the arrows, ok the bogey is ahead of me, when will it alert to the side and then to the rear.
I also have a convertible so I was wondering how this would effect and rear radar waves since my back window is so small.
I left the factory settings on, so X band was frequently going off. Will need to turn X band off in order to compare to my past V995 known K falses.
I do not believe I had any real police radar encounters.
The V1 display is a lot smaller than I envisioned
The V1 arrows are initially hypnotizing
The V1 bogey counter will take some time to comprehend
The V1 suction cup holder is the best
The V1 band alerted to is initially hard to figure out, the multi color display may be a purchase in the future.
I will need to figure out how to turn off X band and POP
More to come in the weeks ahead as I become accustomed to my V1
Until then  dreams of    (arrows)
