Default Hey, new here, got a question or two.

    Hey every one.

So, i got V1 the other day, buddy of mine gave it to me as a gift, he already has one in every car. Its about 4 months old, but new, never used, in the box with everything.

I figured out how to check version on it, and its a 3.861. Is it ok? Anything i should be concerned about with V3.861?

From doing some reading on the forums, im guessing that its normal that i get xmas lights on V1 on shopping plazas cause of the automatic doors. Mostly its K band, and sometimes its X band.

I live in MD/DC/VA area, so i havent disabled any bands, just left it as is. Not sure who uses what, so ill live all the settings on default. Yup, and i know RD are illegal in VA and DC.

So far it seems to be working well from one encounter with the local PD, it picked it up about a mile down the road, but he already pulled some one over.

It even picked up a traffic light camera once, the kind that takes a picture of you when you run a red light.

Other then that, its a great RD, always wanted one just couldnt cough up the money for it, but now that i have it, i barely even speed, 5-10mph on main highway.

Anyways. I appreciate all the quick info and answers to my question/s.

    Thanks in advance.

    edit;

Almost forgot. Are the lights supposed to deem on their own at night time? Cause i think mine stays bright at day and night time. Or is there is a setting im missing?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

welcome to the forum. You did really well with the V1. I'll let others advise you on whether you need to upgrade or not, but for your reference you can check here: http://www.valentine1.com/upgrades

I'm pretty sure you can disable X band. If K band is bothering you to much, visit this thread to activate K band automute: http://www.radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?t=11240

When you press and hold the control knob, it will switch from A, to l, to L. A mode is for the highway, well l and L are more for the city. If K band is used in your city area, I would use small l.

Remember the V1 will not make you invinecable as we have to watch for the deadly "instant on."

    Where sun glasses. 8)

Use a peace of lightly colored tape or a clear peace of tape and use a marker so you don’t ruin the arrows.

X2. The tape works really well. Good thing it is red light so our eyes can handle at night time.

3.861 is an excellent revision (my specific unit anyway).

in all reality, I believe that a lot of this "revision superiority" is bs.

A few hot or cold units of one revision means nothing.

My 3.861 does a damn fine job on both K and Ka. I get many miles of ka detection in certain instances. As for laser, I have never had a confirmed hit but it will pick up ir light from a tv remote at like 20 feet away when shot at my hood ops: ops: ops:
