Anyone notice a big difference mounting high, comparred to low or mid?
Not in my Jeep. Although I mount high simply for the hardwire, but every now and then i will go with a low mount...just for the kicks
Lol, someone just opened a can of worms again. Just don't make a mention if mounting behind the tint strip makes a difference for laser or it will turn into a 20 page thread
As Bear says, depends very much on your vehicle. His Jeep is way up there already and a dash mount for him is likely higher than my high mount as I drive an Audi TT which is low.
I would guess your best mount will be the one that allows the V1 to see through/over the traffic ahead.
Iv'e got a very low profile Pontiac Grand Prix so I mount it high above the RVM but the higher the car is it's probably better to mount it lower. Just my 2 cents.
My trucks top is considerably over the tops of cars, I have dark paint on two of the trucks, so I mount high anyway to keep the unit(s) out of sight.
For the V1 I have the remote display w/color LED mod (thanx Matt M!!)mounted right next to the top of my speedo.
I say mount it high and keep it out of sight. If mounted low, I'd remove it all the time (to keep an honest man honest)... and that'd be a pain to keep taking off, putting back on, taking back off, putting back on... ect..
Yea, I have a low car..
just wondering if people notice a big diff high and low..
Obviously higher the better for radar ... But even a low mount in my Jeep is higher than the tops of most cars. So when i go on long trips i will usually mount it about the middle of the windshield so i have better for laser and still enough time on radar. But toherwise its mounted up just to the left of my RVM.. unless i am playing around for an hour or so then i will mount low just for the hell out of it.Originally Posted by Stealth 795
you wont notice any difference mounting high over low in your daily driving in most circumstances. I noticed when I mounted high, the v1 would alert 2/10 of a second earlier in over-the-hill encounters, which could make the difference if or if not you will get a warning when I/O is used
I never noticed much of a difference where it was mounted. I've mounted from the sun visor, rear view mirror, and low on the windshield and done test runs against a K-55 radar(K-band). The difference in detection range was minimal. I really would like to do some runs against a KA radar. I would think there would be more of difference noted there, due to the KA's radar beam's smaller divergence.
