Default I got Instant OWNED with my V1!

I was on an open road in the middle of nowhere (isn't this how all ticket stories start?). I was supposedly going 71 in a 50, and was going around a curve. At the worst possible moment an unmarked state patrol officer owned me with instant on KA. It had been 2 years since I had a ticket, so I figured I was due. I was so busted. He flipped around and pulled me over.

He asked why I was going so fast, and I just said that I didn't believe I was traveling that fast. He came back with a citation, but lowered it by 1 mph to "help me out". $68 fine! Who cares! If that is the actual price of speeding, than I have no problem paying up. I have Liberty Mutual insurance, and I have verified that they do not run your DMV report unless you are involved in an accident that you are filing a claim for. I have had 5 tickets over the last 5 years, and no insurance rate hike. It actually has gone down $30 because I am now a homeOWNer.[/img]

Do you know if this was 35.5 GHZ? What do they use in your area?

35.5 is supposedly bad on off axis (one of the few weaknesses of the V1).

However, in general instant on would be deadly since its an instant speed reading. I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune but the exact same thing could have happened with laser also.

I am not sure what the frequency was, but in this case it would not have mattered. I didn't notice it was a cop until it was WAY too late. He was only about 50 yards from me when he hit me. He was a good cop because there were other cars ahead of me, and I am pretty sure he didn't clock them. Had he clocked them, I would have been fine but he waited until the time was right and nailed me. oh well, I actually consider myself lucky because I usually am driving faster.

Wow $68 for going 20 mph over PSL.. Must be nice. Both of my tickets have miracoulously been for going 11mph ove limit. One cost $250(81-70) and the other was $138(31-20)..

I think you got lucky he only gave you $68 with 20 over PSL. Can't find that much around now a days.

You also need "defensive driving" i call it when using RD's. Know when to speed up, know when you have to slow down, know how to use the rabbit and know how traffic enforcement products are being used.

Well like most of us, we learn from our mistakes. Bad part is when we don't learn from it.

Colorado has not updated their ticketing fines since the 1960's. It is up on the upcoming ballot, and I am sure the fine people of Colorado will approve an increase Got to speed while he gettings good! I normally don't speed over hills or around corners, but I NEVER see cops on that particular road. But of course the state patrol could technicaly be anywhere at any time. When I did my ride along I learned that the state police don't like to travel too far from their home office incase they have to get called back for an accident in the more populated areas. I was pretty far out in the boonies.

Well, it could very well make a difference if it was around a corner. If he happened to shoot a car in front of you or a ways ahead of you may have just got a blip or so. The thing is that 35.5 is hard to pick up in such a case where you go around a corner.

So i'm assuming your v1 lit up right when he hit you didn't it?

Did the cop see your V1?
