Purchased a 9500i from Best Buy w/ 2yr store warranty. (540.00)
Purchased a V1 w/ case. (460.00)
Returned 9500i b4 the 14 days and was charged 15% restocking fee (80.00)
Amount I woulda saved if i woulda bought a V1 from the start (80.00)
So Best Buy keeps the money i woulda saved...
If ur asking urself do i get the 9500i or the V1 just save urself the money, and time. Get the V1.
I am not knockin the 9500i it seemed like a real nice RD. Nicest features were voice alerts, mute button on power adapter, MPH display when alerted to possible threat.
Went with the V1 because... after reading post after post, realized V1 had greatest sensitivity and rear detection, while 9500i was still working out issues/bugs in their software (i.e ramp up, GPS lockout).
Best way i can compare. 9500i is like a fine tuned compact sports car. Sleek, quite, and lots of electronic gadgets/options. Where as a V1 seems like a old school muscle car. Loud, not very "stylish"(looks or gadgets/options), but very powerful(sensitivity).
The 9500i did get me from exit 89 on the NJSP to woodbridge (& back) in about 25 mins(each way) and was much more quite about pickin up false alarms. But after using V1 for just a day I see the advantages. Last night alone I got hit with a laser from a NJST, hit with X-band from local LEO, and was made "situationally-aware", lol, of 2 more LEOs nearby. A few false alarms but muted volume on V1 was just fine.
Lastly if anyone can offer sum advice...
Living in rural NJ, but traveling NJ turnpike to NYC and back... should i turn off POP in NJ/NY? Do I run in A, little L, or regular L? Based on peoples experiences from the area?
If I wanted to hardwire my V1 to my 06 VW who can i go to in NJ??
