    Default Question about V1 programming

Programming 6 is the false alarm gaurd on the Ka band and the factory default is on. If I'm going to be driving on the highway, should I shut off the Ka false alarm gaurd? With the bcd combined setting, what's the deal with a delay on K band warnings? Don't I want no delay at all? I would think so, but that's not an option.
    Thanks,
    Richard

You dont want a delay, or your instant on radar chances have gone to dirt. I wouldnt think you would want any KA guard on the highway, thats where KA is used the most as far as I know.

That's what I was thinking. I wonder why V1, which is all about giving you everything, makes the standard setting to have a Ka filter on. The delay thing I don't get, because it says those programming settings are only if yo uturn on function 7, which is standard off, so I dont know.

    Richard,

Ka guard just stops it from falsing from other detectors I don't think it will cut your distance. I would leave it alone. It looks at frequency harmonics to ignore passing radar detectors.

    V1 Dave,
that answers my question on the Ka guard. i've been playing with that setting and that's what i thought it might do.

    marlinspike,
i've been playing with those k band mute settings and have some interesting info on that, here's the link to my post (page 3)

Brent, do you know if setting it to more responsive just shifts the scale (i.e. it's easier to get a 9/9) or if it will start beeping sooner?
    Thanks,
    Richard

Default Do you get a lot of Ka falses?

I haven't found Ka falsing to be a real issue (at least where I have driven) even with POP2 enabled.

K-band falsing, well that's an entirely different story...

From what I read X50 gives an automute alert with every encounter then drops the volume? Seems safer but annoying on long drives.
You dont have to have the automute enabled.
