    Default Tinted strip on windshield

I want to mount my V1 as high as possible next to the rear mirror but my car has a very subtle factory tinted strip at the top of the windshield. It's almost invisible to the naked eye but you can see a minor shift in color under bright sunlight. Will this affect V1's sensitivity? Thanks!

I shouldn't. Most of the factory tints are "dyes" in the glass.

Either way, you could test it out with either a speed sign, or a K band door opener. Do a "run" with it behind the tint, then one with it just under the tint, and see if there is a difference.

Really doubt it, normally the ones that really effect the performance are the after market really dark (metallic) tint strips.

    i dont know man
i feel like the tint does decrease performance
prior to receiving the windshield mount
i had it wedged between the RVM and the headliner and aimed perfectly out the front of the car...
after receiving the windshield mount, i mounted just below the tint line
and on this street i travel on everyday, i noticed it falses earlier...

The regular tint strip should not affect radar at all, and Mike Valentine has stated in a lab report he feels it would even benefit laser reception by filtering ambient noise levels in bright light.

I've been running mine in the tint strip for well over a year, and never had a problem.

I have mine in the part of the windshield where the tint was and it has detected radar for over a mile away and also detected laser when a cop hit me 10 times as my LI jammed him. Perfect spot for me.
