I. How to enter the Programming Mode from the link that you posted. This will tell you how to get into the V1's programming mode and set up the K band automute. Depending on where you live will determine what bands you should leave on and off. Most likley you should turn off POP and X. The K band automute will help stop your V1 from going nuts in the city.

Make sure you're certain that you don't need X. I know that some small towns still use it because they can't afford to get K, Ka, or Laser guns. I was in Monie, Illinois a few weeks ago and I encountered an X alert. I thought, "No way!" But sure enough, over the next rise was a local LEO sitting dark on the shoulder. Luckily I didn't dismiss the warning and I slowed down. 55 in a 35.
While you are not sick and tired of the V1 alerts, I would not turn off X and just drive around and make asbolutely sure there's no X in your area.... I turn off X on my Whistlers only because Ka's my primary risk and there's a risk that an X alert will override a Ka alert on this single-alert detector. If I had a bogey counter like the V1 I'd leave it all on for safety.
You've got a really good point there. Although in the city when you're getting 9 false alerts for 25 miles straight it takes a lot of willpower to not chuck the thing out the window. V1s are too boxy to fly.Originally Posted by jdong
I wish the V1 had the same programming options for K-band mute as it does for X-band mute. With the muting to my settings K-band mute is even more aggressive than X-band, which is just plain odd. To compromise and have a viable city mode I might have to altogether forfeit K-band muting and just put the detector in little or big L (I know for sure in my city routes no department nearby runs X) mode to shut it up and live with K-band falsing.
I absolutely love the V1 in my town and on the interstate, but I hate the thing when I'm in Chicago. Luckily there isn't much chance to speed there, and when there is everyone else is speeding to. Oh look! A wabbit!Originally Posted by jdong
Option 5 - NORMAL or RESPONSIVE?
Option 6 - GUARD ON OR OFF?
5: Ka responsiveness: Doesn't change the sensitivity, but changes the alert scales, with More Responsive it'll cause a more aggressive strength ramp-up than the default setting. It's useful for getting across the urgency of a Ka alert if it's a primary threat in your area, and probably also helps a weak Ka alert power through a cloud of X/K falses to become the strongest alert displayed with the blinking arrow and audio tone. Entirely cosmetic and not-performance-affecting, choose to your tastes.Originally Posted by djdownfawl
6: Ka Guard: Keep on. This allows your V1 to perform basic detection for whether a Ka alert is from a leaky detector (not the J-out related feature). If you turn it off, you'll pick up every other detector within a mile's radius. Good for those days when you can't find any cops and miss the sound of the Ka alert.
it will take time for u to get used to ur v1..took me about a month to not look every time i passed a pharmacy
