Laser I have not encountered
Long time lurker at least 4 months, and decided on a V1 which I have had for a little over a month. It is still factory and I usually leave the volume down in the city, no real chance to speed, the highways are a different story. I go with A all the time.
The first day I got the V1 I headed out on the town. Sitting at a stop light I got a single constant Ka blip and as I drove on it got stronger and stronger until I look down a side street and two cops had a guy pulled over. I went back and measured and this thing was picking them up 1/4 mile away and down a side street pointing away from the main road. I was blown away. For the first few weeks it was picking up cops so far away it seemed almost unfair to have this thing in my car. I had such a sense of security. Now for the rest of the story.
Now the roads I travel on long are long and flat with out many hills. My main gripes have been as of lately, all I get is full ramp up on Ka alerts from cops in the opposite lane. I get just enough notice to look up and see em whizz by, if I get to see them at all. The rear horn alerts for a good time, almost twice as long as the front horn. I haven't changed a thing or the location. It just seems the front horn has lost its sensitivity by about half.
I used to get plenty of notice.
We also have alot of undercover traffic cops, you name it and they drive it complete all the way down to non-gov plates. I was zipping along the other night and shot past this old 80's era buick and he came up beside me then whipped in behind me and WHAM full ramp up on KA my heart about went through my chest, he then exited, i figure it was false.
However I am just a bit worried that somehow the V1 has lost some sensitivity toward the front. Why didn't I pick up the false from the front? I am going to give it a few more weeks and see how it goes. The rear horn seems to lock onto falses i.e. doors and such, a lot longer than the front.
I could understand if I had changed anything, but it has sat in the same place since the day I got it, hardwired above the RVM to the left and below the tint strip.
Anyone have any suggestions?
