    Default Bel smart cord

Hey I just got my V1 and absolutely love it. But I am wondering if I can use my pre-installed Bel direct wire smart cord? The reason I'm asking is because the V1's power cord has a fuse in it and I do not know if the Bel one does or does not. I know I cannot use the mute button on it, but I'm not electronically-inclined enough to install the V1's hardwire kit by myself. I don't mind taking it to CC and having them do this one again (probably what I'll do tomorrow), but I was just curious.

This subject has been discussed many many times. Use the search function at the top of the page under "RadarDetector.net."

To answer your question: Yes, the direct smart cord will power your v1, but you cannot mute or go into programming mode.

This answer still doesn't make any sense.

Does this mean, that when I plug the Bell cable, into a power source for the V1 (Cigarette, Hardwired cable) that I cannot use the button on the V1 for Mute/Programing

    I think its this one:
Does it just mean that if I ever get the remote display or remote audio that I cannot CONTROL the V1 with this cord and its other accessories ?

Also - it should be friggen stickied then if its getting hit so many times.

I know and that's why I asked it. It has been answered, but very ambiguously. But now I can confirm since I hardwired my V1 with the V1 hardwire kit. When plugged into the Bel cord, there is power going to the unit but pressing the mute button on the Bel cord has absolutely no effect. Also, the alert light does NOT blink when the V1 is detecting a signal.

To the best of my knowledge, that is not the question he asked.

    But instead:

"But I am wondering if I can use my pre-installed Bel direct wire smart cord?"

Yes, you will be able to power the unit, but you cannot enter programming mode or mute the unit.

Yes, that is correct. There are no advantages to using an Escort or Bel power cord other than getting power to the unit and that's it. The light does not alert as you stated, you cannot mute, and you cannot enter programming mode.

It makes perfect sense, you said it yourself above.

As for your question, I have no experience with the remote display or remote audio.

    Holy Effing Crap...

So, for those of us that have never had the need to experiment with the Bell stuff, their "smart cord" has a button and light on it...

See - now it makes sense, you can use your Bell cord to Power the V1, but the button AND THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART - ON THE SMART CORD will NOT mute and it will NOT allow mode/programing.

Further, It seems that this cord also cannot be used to allow the functionality of the remote display and the remote audio - Is this true as well ?

I am ok with getting beaten up, but this is a long way to go before someone really explained it...

    WOW...

The button on the V1 will not mute the unit or let it go into programming either.
