Default Chevy Trailblazer setting off V1

Yesterday I was cruising in a known speed trap area for laser when my V1 starts going off. So I roll the windows down *tint thing* and start on the search. I never see anyone, but at the next redlight when the guy hit his breaks it did the same thing.

So if you drive a Trail Blazer shame on you just coast to a stop you dont need no stinkin breaks! hell work that ebrake some it needs some lovin!

just a heads up if you all ever get a laser while following a trail blazer!

You have to wonder why carmakers use semi-exotic, expensive technology for brakelights when cheap lightbulbs or LEDs work fine. :P

In the case of the Trailblazer and Envoy, a neon brakelight is used. Why? Don't ask me. But it's a known fact that these brakelights cause laser falses, especially on the V1.

When I had a 1.7 V1 I encountered this a number of times when getting stuck in traffic at night behind an Envoy. I haven't had a brakelight set off my 1.8 V1 yet, but then I haven't been behind the offending vehicles either.

I'm not sure if the newer models, with the shorter 3rd brakelight, still use the neon or not. I think it might not.

I know when the Mark VIII got some fancy neon tailights (a year before LM stopped making them) they said it was because the lights would illuminate faster than conventional lights, allowing for more reaction time from the folks behind you.

Ahh, like that 1/10 second difference is going to make a discernable difference in reaction time... sounds like a marketing ploy to me.

LEDs react faster than light bulbs too, they're cheaper, more flexible and don't set my V1 off.

The Infiniti QX always sets off my V1 when it's coming from the opposite direction. I've had an occurrence where the FX has also set off my rear laser detection when it was, obviously, behind me.

Ahh, yes, the other infamous source of laser falses. The dreaded Infiniti laser automatic cruise control. I came upon one of those when I was doing 60 in a 50 once and nearly had a heart attack.

Some other carmakers supposedly have this option (e.g. Lexus, Toyota, Mercedes) but so far only the Infiniti has been proven to consistently set off my V1.

And yes, I had one of those Infinitis behind me once and my rear laser kept going off. Infuriating.

    Their website mentions this:

It happens to me anytime I'm behind any of these vehicles. It's especially frustrating that my good friend has a Trailblazer, so anytime I'm with him, I make sure that I'm leading the way. And anytime I'm in traffic with any of these cars, I get ahead of them as soon as possible.

Yep, Yukon, Trailblazer... And the latest addition to my list was a Chevy Avalanche that the brake lights set off my V1. These are pretty common where I live so it can be pretty frustrating sitting a stop lights. The good news is that I generally need to be pretty close to them to set it off, but still happens often enough to be irritating.

    Drive safe, have fun,
