Default X50 User switch to V1?

I recently bought an Escort 8500 X50 from best buy for $360 with tax and everything. Very pricey! After reading some posts in the V1 forum I found were I can get a refurbished V1 for about the same price I paid for the X50.

Now, I know from many radar tests and reviews that my X50 is a pretty good detector. So far I would have to agree except for a lot of false alarms. But, according to many GUYSOFLIDAR reviews and radar roy reviews the V1 seems to be much much better radar detector.

So, should I take my X50 back to Best Buy while I still can and buy a V1?

Also, what kind of warranty does V1 have on their radars? For example, something like a 30 day money back guarantee? [/i]

30 day money back my friend. Some new poster on here is saying that the money back deal from VR is not good, but I wouldn't listen to him. No one else is having any problems with it that I know of. I'd return it and get a V1. You'll still have a lot of falses, but you can mess with some settings in programming to quiet it down significantly. Then return it if you don't like it. Good luck my friend!

I have both, and I can tell you the v1 is more sensitive. Once you get used to the arrows, you won't take it back for nothing.

I would have to agree, at least in my experience, that you are dead on.

Well thats great to here! The X50 is fine and all but if I am going to spend over $350 on a radar detector I want it to be the best.

Also, the GUYSOFLIDAR test rates the Valentine 1 detector way higher than any other high end radar detector in every category. If the tests are accurate, which I am sure they are, then this test alone should be enough to convince anybody how much better the V1 is. I know that test was what convinced me to look into a V1.

From this forum I have read that the V1 was good but so was the X50 and RX65. Most people just lumped the three into one category and said they were all good. This is why I went with the X50. But, in light of these GUYSOFLIDAR tests, the V1 should be a much better radar detector.

Do I order the V1 straight from valentineone.com website?

Do I have to call the number on the valentine one website to buy a refurbished one?

    Thanks for your help!

X50 is great. you have to realize this forum is all about V1.
If you wanted to switch anyhow i guess that is fine.

You mention lot's of falses on the X50 , V1 will have more.
And V1 is not much much better then X50. in my opinion they are really close. both works.

You can order the V1 new off of their website. Give them a call or email if you want a refurb unit. You're probably going to have to wait a while.

I would stick it out with the X50 for now. IIRC Best Buy(or escort) have a 30 day "test" period. Send it back if you are not satisfied by the end of the 30 days. If you like it, then keep it.

I used to have the X50 Blue, I liked it. I ended up staying with the V1 because I got addicted to the arrows, which IMO are not a necessity. In real world scenarios they are very close to each other in detection range. The things I like more about the V1 is the bogey lock tone, and the bogey counter. Granted the X50 could display multiple threats, but when it picked up another threat it made no sound to alert you to the new signal, and the expert meter was hard to see sometimes. With the V1 you have the tone, and a large number. Just a glance and you know what is going on.

You wont be disappointed in either detector, its all about personal preference.
