So I was on the highway yesterday afternoon when I got a short K band blip. It was in a place where I don't get any falses so I reset my trip odometer just for the hell of it. The V1 would alert K band for a second, then go silent (and stay silent for a few seconds). Then, I'd get another little K blip, and it would fall silent again. A little further up the road, it started to stay locked on to the signal so I knew something was up. It ramps up smoothly like always and I look to my right and ahead, and there's a local PD cruiser shooting (idk if he was clocking traffic or just left his radar on) K band radar on a road adjacent to the highway. Now is where the interesting part comes in. He was facing the same direction that I was headed (aka shooting radar away from me) and I picked it up so early.
Now this particular stretch of highway has two stoplights on it (I know, weird) because it's kind of "in town", so that's why I was alerted for so long (traffic was moving pretty slowly). I feel that I would have locked on to the signal earlier if the logging truck wasn't two vehicles ahead of me though. All of this took place over a wide, but sweeping, curve.
I was impressed.
