Default Can the V1 lose sensitivity?

Will it lose sensitivity from temperature/power fluctuations? I see people say that if a RD detects door openers, it works fine.

It can go out of tune. Valentine will do tuning service for you for a fee.

I know it can go out of tune, but how bad does that affect sensitivity?

And how often do people reccommend getting a tune?

I would do every year because I feel like I wanted a 100% sensitivity on it.

I had a V1 go completely deaf on X and K band, and would only detect the upper half of Ka.

It was a transistor failure on one of the circuit boards.

Otherwise, unless you notice something really odd with your V1, there isn't any need to send it in.

I agree with Jerry here. Unless you are ok with tossing away money, you should never need a tune. But feel free to get one. I think they're around $60.00.

3.863 has a digital compensation board (basically an auto calibration capability), so it shouldn't drift out of tune like earlier V1s did. If it drifts out far enough to cause a problem, you'll get an "E" in the display and you'll have to send it in.

If you have a 3.81x or 3.82x version, these ones can drift out of tune and the only symptom is it starts to miss some alerts. VR will usually tune them up free of charge even out of warranty.

Mine was free to get tuned. After getting it back, I started getting my X band back and the K and Ka was a lot more sensitive.
