I am new to this site but i have found a good deal on a V1 off of one of my local forums. The only problem is that it does not have the POP feature.I was given the serial # 4423390644.I went to V1's site and thats how i knew it did not have that. But it is the 1.8 model.THe POP for that is an extra $85 plus shipping. But is pop something i should really get? When i ship out my radar to them do i still have to set some stuff up my self after they load in the new program to it?
Re: V1 reprogam?
You only need Pop if your LEOs are using POP. It is very rare in the US. Mostly we have either C/O (constant on) or I/O (killer instant on). Check on the forums below about your state's information on radar bands and what types of radar your LEOs use.

Also the person wants $300 for it.Unless i should opt for a new one off V1's site.
I was only given the serial number.Thats how i found out it was a 1.8 version. But i can ask the person.Unless thats what you mean.
I came up with this.On a quick search.
I've seen K and Ka in Portsmouth. Pretty much the norm for just about everywhere in NH. Mostly Kustom and Decatur equipment (Ka band 35.5 GHz). I can't say if Portsmouth is a bad speedtrap town, as I'm not there often. Check out http://www.speedtrap.org to find out more.
State troopers have mainly Decatur K band and Stalker Ka band equipment, and Pro Laser III, you'll see these on the interstates, turnpikes, and state highways mainly. They also use air VASCAR (clocking traffic from an airplane) on the highways, especially I-95 in that area.
at $300, you can get a new "refurb" from V1 for $359 with the same 1 year warranty as new, or a brand spankin' new one for $399.
If the firmware is 3.813, TheStaton or I will tell you to BUY IT YESTERDAY (unless POP is used in your area). Then, you and your friend get on the phone with V1 and transfer the serial into your name, send it in for a checkup, but don't upgrade.
Otherwise, if it's not 3.813, I'd buy a refurb or new from V1 and get the warranty.
So the one on their site is the latest and greatest w/ POP and 3.813?The thing is i dont know if NH will ever have POP but if i decide to travel somewhere i think it would be good to have.
The latest and greatest from V1 is 3.864.
But with the tests I've seen, version 3.813 is the best all around performer, in my humble opinion.
That is a site put together by some guys on this forum and have been doing real-world tests with detectors.
The last three noumbers of V1's Serial No. will tell you how old (year of mfg,not day/month) the V1 is.
*MFG = manufactured
*SN = Serial Noumber
Last 3 digits of SN.-399 MFG in 1992 - 1996
Last 3 digits of SN.-400 - 439 MFG in 1997 - 1998
Last 3 digits of SN.-440 - 599 MFG in 1998 - 2001
Last 3 digits of SN.-600 and up MFG in 2001 - 2005
I'll update the chart when I get more info.
$300 off e-bay vs $400 brand new ($359 refurb), the latter two come with full warranty from VR and the ebay option might leave you completely stranded?
Isn't the choice obvious?
