    Default After I turned off X and K

    My v1 has been acting weird. One time when I was driving, all the lights and stuff lit up and it made a strange noise for like 3-5 seconds and then it went back to normal. Also before i modified it, i used to get strong signals and I used to be able to see the cop. At the momment, I am getting Ka signals but they are there for 3 seconds and they stop. I never get to see where the cop is. This could be being paranoid or there may be something wrong with it.

    I have shut off X and K because I live in Salina, KS and they only use KA.

    I bought my v1 about a month ago and its the latest version.

    When you turn X and K back on does the problem you are experiencing go away?

    I'd make note of where you have all of your DIP switches set, then take each one and move it to the on and then off position a few times, set all of them back like you want them, and makes sure you have all of the DIP switches pushed firmly in the full on or off position. DIP switches are well known to look like they are in a full position but not be, this is why most modern devices have long sense done away with these. Many manufacturers who use to use DIP switches but still need this type of physical switching have also done away with DIP switches and went back to physical "jumper" wires in their designs.

    (I've though, many of times, too many to count, found just physically switching the DIP switches up and down several times then putting them back solve problems like this, not going to hurt anything to try it, and if it solves the problem I'd consider it normal and not worry about it any more.)

    I mean it sounds like you may have gotten a faulty one, with all the lights flashing like your describing, but the more information you can give them when sending it in the more likely they will be able to correct the actual issue and not just have to make technical guesses.

    If you do send it in, make sure you put everything on it back exactly like it is when you experience the problem, you'll make the tech who has to look it over job a lot easier in trying to reproduce and solve the problem.

    I am not sure what a DIP switch is. When i reprogrammed it, i went into the mode and put the Arrow down for 1 & 2 which is X and K.

    When you say "modify" do you mean just the programming or that you took it apart and changed something inside of it?

    I went into programming mode and put the arrows down for 1 & 2 which is X and K. That's all.


    Today, again, all the lights went on (it might've just been Ka and Laser) and the senstivity light which had all the bars of light on for 2 seconds and then it went back into normal.

    I had a Ka signal for 3 seconds and then it went away and then another Ka and it turned out to be a J (Junk) one.

    Does it go through the P-o-P sequence when all the lights go on? Maybe it's a faulty power connection and the unit is cycling through its startup sequence? This happens to me once in a while when I switch cars and don't get a snug fit for the lighter plug.

    If it isn't this, I'd send it in to get fixed.

    My bad, I see what you're talking about now, I thought you were going inside of it. People here were calling these DIP Switches inside the V1, I just went and looked at Specialchickens internal V1 pics and see that they are not DIP Switches inside it, but a bank of jumper terminals.

    Jiggle the power cord around and see if it reproduces the problem (both ends), that's easy enough for you to try, then while jiggling the power cord may as well go ahead and unplug it so you can send it in. This is one of the troubleshooting steps in the manual they have on the V1 web site.

    (I also just looked up what you were doing, OMFG, I'm not going to say anything more than you guys must have more patience than I do, arrow up arrow down, DIP switches would be more user friendly than that)
