After much consideration, I went ahead with the Dual Lock mount. I was reluctant to kill my suction cup mount like that, and I was trying to get the detector off of the windshield (CA state law), but all in all, I think it worked out well--and cops won't be able to see it anyway. Pictures are blurry as they were taken at insanely high resolution then downsized to fit into Photobucket.
The mount, above the rearview and offset slightly left.
You can see where I tried to center it there. I was thrilled with the mount until I saw that the RVM post was blocking the receiver...d'oh! At any rate, that Dual Lock obscures visibility even more than the bubble tint alone.
The wires running down the A-pillar (that's the A-pillar, right?), stuck in by placing one strip of Dual Lock slightly lower than the other, creating a "pouch" for the wires. The install gets kind of ghetto once you're inside the dashboard display, as the Dual Lock is just blatantly there.
And one of my dog for good measure. His name's Bandit. He eats faces.
