Just reading through the posts, as you do lol, are theses speed detection devices you are talking about mounted over the bridges.....one over each lane ? With what looks like a 500 watt halogen lamp but turned off and looking black ???

Im in Liverpool and travel the A55 corridor and manchester a lot. My V1 is on its way and the Bel is in the bin !

    The are Traffic Master

Sometimes they flase a laser alert on the V1

The A55 is a good fast road if it wasn't for the welsh police.

What I would suggest is go to the North wales police website and look of the Freedom Of Infomation section and you can email them a question. Ask them what speed detection units they use and what Radar freq's they use.

They have to answer you in 21 days or they get fined.

Manchester I have seen Ku around for a long time, I used to have a Bel 550 and hated that it never said "Ku band" it would just alert.

    Exclamation Re: UNITED KINGDOM USE

i would actually think that it is necessary to use the V1's euro (U) mode in Ireland.

last week the cops here announced they are using 8 new speed detection vans here.........

    http://www.radardetector.net/forums/...er-system.html

after some searching online eire05 found out that they are running the Robot Multanova Multaradar C K band systems. these are low powered so turning on the V1's U mode can help increase its sensitivity on K band and hopefully increase the warning time against these radar vans.

only a few days after this he encountered what we believed to be one of these vans at first but the vans were supposed to be new and the one in this video was an older one that has been seen there long before the Multanovas were in operation. heres the video he made...........

YouTube - GATSO Van (M1) -VS- Valentine V1

it was most likely one of the older GATSO vans used here previously.

the first run was off axis with the V1 on U mode and there was very little warning time. the second run was more straight facing towards the radar source but there was still only a 300 metre alert (1000 feet approx) and if you were not doing PSL like on the vid, the warning time would be a lot less possibly

as you can probably notive the V1 does not ramp up to full alert on either pass until right next to the van so it would be very easy to dismiss this as a false as the strength is very low .

i was always running my V1 on A mode but i have since switched to U mode just in case and i am not so fast to dismiss any K alerts i meet from now on either.

it had been nearly all laser here up until now so theres a few bad habits to be broken

i must stress that the video wasnt mine lol. that was eire05's work and the research also so thank him instead but cheers anyway .

im just glad im running a V1 because i used to run low end whistlers and i doubt they would pick that up TBH

i just hope the V1 can pick up the newer Multaradar C vans earlier than that all the same...

ummmmm just when im thinking i got this radar laser thing licked ! Now this radar van ! Was he firing from the rear windows ?

Is it possible he was aiming at the other slip road on his right ? Maybe he was doing both ?

Thats a lot of traffic to bounce radar off, it must be a pretty narrow beamwidth. Im gonna look into this one. I read on another post about the police possibly using more radar due to the amount of laser detection out there, but then again, when your hit with laser your just about cooked anyway.

Anyways, the units i was talking about arent the Traffic Master devices, usually its a van and several tripod mounted cameras with what look like infra red lamps possibly more to do with ANPR than speed ?

Ithink i will email the NWales Police and ask them about their equipment. See what happens.
