I just returned from a >1k mile road trip that I ran my brand new 3.864 V1 against my 3 year old SRX.
The V1 ate my SRX's lunch in every category, and I will do a full write up later. (Including my first ever laser "save" from a radar detector!)
There was one incident that I found curious and hope someone here can shed some light on it.
I got detoured off of I-75 near Tampa and ended up at a dead stop about 5 cars back from 3 LEO's working the traffic around the detour. They were all at 90 deg angles (to my line of traffic) with their lights flashing.
I saw them as soon as I exited the interstate and turned off my V1 so as not to draw any attention to my car when I passed the LEO's.
After coming to a stop my SRX alerts to 33.8?? (Ka) and then goes silent. I turn on my V1 and While it's doing its start-up the SRX alerts again. After a few seconds my V1 starts flashing "J" and then goes silent.
Both the SRX and the V1 didn't seem to "lock" onto this signal and both seemed to be trying to ignore it. (No consistent alert from either detector.)
My question is, what would make any detector think that a 33.8XX is not police radar?
Odd transmit times?
SRX spec display off by a lot on this encounter?
I don't know...
