# Thread: Moving rear I/O blast question

1. ## Moving rear I/O blast question

Can the LEO's I/O read more than one car's speed at a time when they are all lined up in a "row", say there's a rabbit between you and the LEO all traveling in the same direction on a single lane 2-way street?

2. Yes and no. If both LEO and rabbit are moving at the same speed, LEO will have a hard time acquiring the rabbit's speed. But if rabbit was driving 15 mph over LEO's speed, it will only pick up rabbit's speed if your vehicle and rabbit's vehicle are the same in size. Assuming I understand your scenario where LEO is in front of rabbit and you behind rabbit going the same direction. There can be a scenario where rabbit is driving a ford focus in between you and LEO and you are driving 15 mph over both LEO and rabbit driving an 18 wheeler in a single lane, LEO can tell it was you speeding. The radar unit will show your speed in the fastest and strongest window and a "possibility" to show both speed assuming rabbit is 10 mph over LEO's speed depending on the distance.

3. movin i/o sucks and is very scary when u get hit....esp when a leo is right behind you and you accidently didn't realize it, then slam on the brakes when he fires i/o

4. Also consider the radar unit's capabilities. Some units are not equip with same lane capability, has no dedicated target/strongest and fastest window and etc.

Here was the scenario:

<------ Me <------ rabbit <-------- rabbit <------- LEO firing I/O

My V1 lit up like a Christmas tree out of the blue while I was doing 5 over 45 PSL at night. I slammed on the brakes and brought the car down to 35 in a second and kept constant. All the cars in this scenario were sedans. Could LEO have picked up my speed with 2 rabbits in between?

Your diagram needs to be more like this

<--------Rabbit (me) <------- fish 1 <-------- fish 2 <------ LEO firing I/0

I've only seen this configuration in the real world once and it was only clear because the freeway I was on had a concrete divider.

Although it looks the same as the above scenario many times it's really this:

<--------Rabbit (me) <------- fish 1 <---------fish 2 <---------- LEO firing
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Target X ------->

So it seems like you were the target but in reality the LEO is firing at oncoming traffic.

in my opinion he would NOT have been able to read your speed
but they are trained...and if someone in the "pack" is running a
bit faster they can visually determine <thru experiance> which
one to go after.

in my opinion you indicted yourself when you STABBED the brakes
and showed your brake lights to everyone....

from the other direction a trained cop would have ALSO noticed
the front end DIVE <down> when you stabbed the brakes

Thus causing a huge pack wreck behind you. I would never slam on my brakes when LEO is in sight and shot you with I/O when I have cars behind me but its worth getting a Speeding Ticket since you would lead the Pack than causing an accident.

9. BTW, is it illegal for LEO to tailgate the car in front and lure him into speeding?

give me a break....no one MAKES you speed up....

it would be your word <in court> against the COURT APPOINTED
OFFICER...the LEO will call it PACING and youll be told to pay your
fine !
