Hi guys. New member first post.
I have an *old* V1 - at least 12 years old at this point I think. If I remember right I *think* it's version 1.7 something but I could be wrong.
Anyways, on several of my vehicles when certain electrical accessories are used my V1 will false on laser.
For example, on my older 626 daily driver if I move the left power mirror left or right the V1 will false. If I move the mirror up or down it usually will false but not as frequently as left to right. The false laser alerts are more likely to happen at highway speeds than idle.
In my F350 if I turn on the rear defroster it will false for a second or so then settle down.
When I had my Sport-Trac if the blower motor was turned on it would also laser false for a second or two. :?:
I mount my unit about 1/3 of the way up the windshield. I suppose it's possible that on my 626 the movement of the mirror is creating light reflections the V1 is seeing as laser, but how could turning on the rear defroster in my F350 be causing a false?
I just ordered a spanking new unit for my 07 ZX-10. Oh yeah, that reminds me. I was thinking of TIG'ing up a nice little aluminum box with smoke plexiglass ends to house my shiny new V1 and protect it from moisture while on the bike. Do you think the aluminum box will affect detection range and accuracy?
