Ran into a CHP cruiser the other day. He was parked on the right shoulder, past the apex of a blind curve, hiding behind a bush. The V1 gave a surprisingly short warning which ramped up very quickly. At first I didn't even see the CHP, but of course I slowed down anyway. A moment later he became clearly visible.
I'm told by a co-worker who lives in the area that this is a favorite spot for them to sit. Sneaky bastiges! Do you suppose they know that the off-axis performance of RDs gives them a pretty big element of surprise even with a CO gun, so they park off-axis on purpose?
