Default Can laser be picked up off-axis?

Say a LEO is waiting for you at a blind corner, can laser be picked up off-axis assuming there's rabbit in front of you?

there is a good chance depending on the whole situation but if you are not to far behind the car then yes...you will be surprised how good the v1's laser is..i mean most of the time you just falses but until you confirm its an infiniti or trailblazer or w/e it could be a cop

Light can reflect off surfaces, for example, videos of a laser shooting at an opposite wall, the V1 will go off. The reason for the V1 capability is that the V1 is looking at a larger spectrum not just 904nm?, the V1 has a wider tolerance so that light that is off axis or reflected that degrades to a different wave length the V1 will still alert to.

As mentioned depending on the circumstances, you can pick up off axis, the V1 has the best possibility to do this. But generally speaking you still have be within the direct tageting direction inorder to hope to get a alert from scatter.

Even on a Cobra 9400 I've gotten laser around a curve due to a high and shiny median embankment, so with the V1 I think it's certainly possible though like everything with laser, nothing to bank on.

(Of course, Cobras are actually quite notably good with laser sensitivity... in my experience superior to my Whistlers)

To answer your question - not reliably. It's very difficult to detect if it's not line of sight. I've had 10+ cars in front of me and received long range prior warning when targeting the cars in front, but that was line of sight.

To add to that comment, the farther away the officer targeting a vehicle, the more likely you can pick up scatter from the cars ahead. If the officer is shooting a close range 500 feet or less at the target vehicles, the harder it will be for you to pickup that scatter.
