Yeah, once a 3.851 displays an 'E' it will keep doing it occasionally. Your 3.851 should come back as 3.858.

Sweet! i love when technology tells you when somethings off before its too late.

What sets off the E message? does it do a check of radar detection performance?

Same as the Self Cal error on escorts -- the software was unable to compensate for the drifting of its components.

However, there were a batch of 3.851's which set too stringent requirements on this not in line with manufacturer variance, and for those people there's an update.

as per my experience E is not too much to worry about. i must have got 20 E's in 7 months but lately i dont get any. i never saw any decrease in sensitivity at all as i checked with a known radar source number of times.

if it is under warranty send it. i will send it in 2 more months before i run out of 12 months to get it checked and upgrade to latest version.

    dont worry about it.

Anytime the V1's self-calibration routine is unhappy with how it tuned itself, it throws an E. It could be a sign of drifting/component failure, but the 3.851's had some bugs with the E feature that caused it to be thrown erroneously.
