Software Version Number?
What's the deal with software version number? 3.863, 3.864, etc. When you check the serial number it only says v 1.8 or something like that. How do you find 3.8...? Does it even matter, or are the differences pretty minor? And if someone had an older version is there anyway to upgrade to the latest one?
3.864 is the latest. u can call v1 to find out how much to upgrade, the number is on the valentine1.com
when u enter the programming mode the first display is version number.
The reason I ask these questions is that I am thinking of buying a used V1. I checked the serial number online and it says it is the latest, no upgrades available.
Is the "programming mode" something that the current owner would know how to do, or are there instructions somewhere. I want to ask him to check that for me.
it is fairly easy to enter programming mode for ur seller. press down and hold power button and turn at the same time it will enter programming mode.

Thanks. I got the serial number already. Here is what the upgrade page told me:
V1 Description: Radar circuitry known in-house as V1.8—POP2 with Euro Mode. This is our latest and best performer on both radar and laser.
Upgrade Recommendation: You already have our best.
But I am wondering what the software version number is, 3.863, 3.864, something else? And whether that even matters as long as the upgrade site says its the best.

watch this to see how to get the version number. i wouldnt worry if it is 3.863 i use it it wirks just fine. 3.864 has some changes for euro mode.
As guit123 said, you have to go into the programming mode to get the software version number. From memory, turn the Valentine1 off then while holding the power button in turn it on, after 5 seconds the lights should come on. Then press the button once and let it go. You should get four numbers come up one at a time and then repeat round.
This is the software version number.
