I was thinking about purchasing a new V1 but the more articles I read about real alerts getting junked out has me worried. Whats up with real threats being junked out? Can it be fixed?

The way i look at it is this way. The V1 will alert you to Ka so as soon as you see the Ka band going off then slow down. If it J's out after a few seconds SO WHAT? Just slow down immediately. If it would J out from the beggining then we have a SERIOUS problem but it does not.Originally Posted by hookem202

So far I haven't experienced anything being J'd out. I am running 3.825. So I don't know how wide spread this problem really is at this point. I would have to concour with Happy as far as the alarms they are seeing. If it is alarming you should be on the brakes so it may not be that big of an issue. You might want to hold off buying until we get a better picture of the real issues with 3.825 since it is pretty new.
So far from what I am seeing with mine and my wifes we haven't seen the J issue. I had something else I thought was strange that I am keeping an eye on, but it might just be me looking for issues where there are none. So far I am pretty happy with the updated V1.

I have experienced the Valentine One 3.825 Junking out real Stalker Ka signals more than once. And also reporting X band when that band has been turned off.
I would definately wait until 3.826 is out and tested and they fix this issue.
The J is supposed to alert on non threats, but it doesn't, it also alerts on real threats, which makes it a useless feature at this point. even if you get a weaker ka signal and it J's it out, it could still be a legit threat ahead. this puts you in the same category as any other detector, wondering whether any ka alert is a threat or not. If you don't see anything around then you have to wait a few miles depending on signal strength at alert and the average detection range you normally get to decide whether to pick up the pace or not.
This is a personal preference and it can be a "SO WHAT?" thing for you. But for others, it bothers them to slow down "immediately" specially when it is a false alert. I believe that this feature has to be improved or even be discontinued because it J's on you with one dot signal strength or 4 or more dot signal strengths. Although i admired Mr. V for having to think of it, but in real world scenarios, it don't work. It has J'ed with false and true police radar signals in low or high signal strength. It boils down to with the V1 having filtering problems. The fact of the matter is, the V1 falses more than the competition in all bands even with POP off and laser. Bottom line, i would prefer to have a simpler feature that will not compromise performance, good filtering/less falsing and improved visual aid in daytime/nightime driving.Originally Posted by happya$$
I know of a road with one of those things that tells you your speed limit and flashes when you're going too fast..anyways, i've cruised the road several times and it detects this Ka from ~ 2 miles away...well, yesterday it was doing the same thing, and when i was ~ 1/4 mile away, it 'J'-d out this real thing...for the first time out of 3-4 encounters
this is on a 3.824 v1...i had to turn it off and back on but it didn't J out...
maybe there was another detector leak or something that contributed to it J-ing out or something...i dunno..but i wasn't too happy with it either
had a talon 35.5 ka hit the other day ( i know this under cover cop car)i think full power my detector didnt junk out but it also alerted to k band as well :? . I have done almost 6000ks with the 825 now have had one "J" alert to a real cop however it "J" out at very close range so i had more than enough warning! so im Kool with it. Dont worry they fixed the pop prob so they will fix this "J" prob have faith. I really think the 825 works much better than the RX65 and X50 i would rather have one :J: alert to a cop every 4 months than 15 false pop, cell phone , other junk detectors alerts every bloody day!!!!!!!! and thats a fact :!:
Buy a jammer you already had 2 of the top 3 radar detectorsOriginally Posted by hookem202

Did my post in this thread get deleted? I'm sorry if it didn't totally solve the problem being asked but I was trying to bring humor into the situatuon. Sheesh
