    Default PoP Question

Recently I've had a few radar encounters with troopers in NY on 2 lane
country roads. The scenario goes like this.

    V1 is silent.
I can see the police car coming at say 500 - 700 ft
    V1 is silent
When the police car gets within say 150 ft, WHAM V1 goes nuts

This has happened more than once. Sometimes its a curvy, road
and the cop isn't visible until 200 - 300 ft and the same thing
happens. No warning from the V1, just WHAM instant full signal !

    Is this POP radar ?

Are there any countermeasures to detect / defeat IO ?
Does having POP enabled on my V1 help ?

not much u can do to avoid i/o. having a rabbit sometimes helps but no guarantee as popo may not target him and hit you with an i/o.

How does this work ? Does the officer trigger the unit when s/he wants
    to measure speed ?

The officer has a standby mode on their radar so that they can point and pull to get a read. It's steathier because Constant on Ka will give you a constant detection where I/O isnt detectable until the officer pulls the trigger.
