Default New V1, First experience with it!

    Sup guys,

I've been browsing the forums for a few weeks now - I'm a college student at UGA and have been wanting a V1 since I was 16. I bought my first radar detector at that age, a Beltronics 936..lol. I got nailed with it about 2 years ago by instant on - it never even alerted. However, I could never afford the V1..until now.

So I finally got it yesterday, and of course threw it in the car (A mode) and drove to some usual false spots that I picked up with the old detector. I picked them up significantly earlier, probably 1/4 mile or so.

Then today, on my hour long commute home from work, I was on the interstate. I was at a point where the highway I was on dumps into a bigger highway, so I was surrounded by trees on both sides. I picked up a K band alert, telling me 1 threat ahead.. it ramped up rather quickly. 15 seconds later, the trees were gone, V1 was going berserk, and I see ~ 7 cop cars, all flashing, with 1 guy pulled over on the other side of the highway. Obviously it wasn't a save, but it did truly impress me with the V1's performance. My other detector wouldn't have even gone off. I know this was hard to understand so I've drawn a (very) poor sketch in paint to help illustrate.

    V1 fan. <-

Ha, that would've been so much quicker..and made so much more sense

    Duluth, GA - Google Maps

If you look at the bottom center(ish), you'll see an 18 wheeler with a red arrow behind it. I was around there when I first picked up the alert. In the top center- right(ish) (Across the trees, median, and on the shoulder of the OTHER SIDE of the highway) there is another red arrow - that is about where the police were lined up.

Btw, I've never seen anything on the highway like that before in my life. 1 guy pulled over in an older suburban or yukon, and 7 cops parked behind him lights ablazing.. and he was just sitting on the guardrail and they were all just standing around - at least thats what it looked like from my position. Who knows.

    Hey Cauhauna,

    My first post here!
You picked a great RD. I’ve been using them for years, been real happy and kept me out of trouble. The LEO’s have upped the ante with their digital toys, but we are staying with them!

Nice grouping of LEO's, least you knew where most of them were that day, LOL!

Probably the one that shot the guy with IO and had the speed locked on, the others were probably there for back up...

Programming is definitely a symptom at Stage 2 of the infection/infestation. Course, however, of this condition is pretty fixed, with a pattern of rapid exacerbation.... He'll be programming by Sunday.
