Thanks, I didn't know that. It was only two years old, fw ver. 3.826, and still showed latest and greatest when checked on VR site. I did take good care of it, so it might be hard to tell if updated or new. I suppose it might have been updated -- it's just hard to know for sure (although I suppose I could call and ask).

Fixed Limit Speed Enforcement is NOT "Revenue Generation". To the contrary, it is legalized Highway Robbery. Hold the volume nob in for a few seconds as you turn it on, then release it and then press the volume nob in again like you were muting your V1.

Am I guaranteed to get the latest software on the detector if I buy it straight from VR? Basically what I'm asking is where should I buy it brand new and have the newest software?

1) No, but you are guaranteed to get the latest vetted version. 2) VR. Only way to get the absolute latest is to send in for upgrade, but keep in mind that "latest" isn't necessarily "best".
