I have some rather shocking news to report. I was driving around town today when I noticed that my V1 (Valerie) was displaying an E. Here is the shocking part along with the E on the display the V1 made an unusual beeping noise to accompany the E. I took some video on my camera phone and will upload it a little later when I have more time.
My version is 3.858 and this is the first E with a sound I have ever experienced. With my 3.854 it was just an E and no sound. Has anyone else with version 3.858 or higher received an E with a beeping sound?
I will be sending it in for a fix next week when I can afford to ship and pay the $45 repair fee (out of warranty). I pulled over and let it do this for 5 minutes before turning it off then on again. It hasn't made another E warning and it seems to be detecting K band just fine if not a little better now.
Thoughts on what could have caused it. It hasn't been really hot today or yesterday but we did just go through some 110 + days.
Thanks
Ace

Not a huge help, but I have never received an E.
(BTW, mines Roger )
EDIT: How long have you had it?

Hey Ace, I have the same rev as you and I know what your talking about. The only time it gave me an E was when it was cold outside(-15F) and possibly a poor connection was partly to blame. It makes a beeping sound like an ambulance is backing up or something. It doesn't sound like any of the other tones on the V1 that's for sure.
Was it hot to the touch when it gave you an E?

No not really hot to the touch considering I had the A/C on full blast. It was warm from being on but not hot as if it was in direct sunlight for 5 hours.

Did you turn it off and then on again to see if it would go back to normal? Mine does that occasionally when I first turn it on, but after I restart it, it is fine.
An E means your V1's self-calibration/self-check circuitry detected a tuning problem that it couldn't correct on its own... if I were you I'd get the unit checked out by VR else you may risk losing range or coverage.
