    Default V1 3.813 vs newer V1

I'm running my V1 3.813 for about 2 years now. How's the new V1? Should I upgrade to newer firmware? Had my V1 tuned not long ago.

    ????????

keep it, the 3.813 is a great performer. Some newer units have ghosting problems.

I would recommend sending the 3.813 in for a tuneup. It costs about 40 dollars.

3.813 > ALL. Do NOT under any circumstances upgrade that thing. It's Royalty.

I would definately not upgrade your 3.813 since your in VA and the newer versions are visible to the spectre at a much greater range. 3.812-3.819 are only visible within 400' or so, compared to 1100' for the 3.826+. I have a 3.818 and have no complaints with its performance and have no plans of ugrading until a spectre fix is found. I would however send it in once a year for a tune up though.

IIRC the digital temperature compensation circuit was not added until version 3.851 and that's when the jump in detectability should have happened. But I see from the GOL test that 3.826 was detected at a longer range too. I wonder what the reason is?

They need to at least fix that if they cannot totally stealth it.

The compensation circuit required drilling another hole into the V1 apparently, which could explain its increased leakiness.

I personally think it's well worth it... I'd rather know when my detector drifts out of tune.
