    Default Squished my V1 cord

So yea basically what it said. I have like a cig lighter in the center console (not sure why there is even one in there). So I the V1 plug into it and tried to close the top over the center console so that the wire was still coming out of it. It was a tight close but it worked. I did this so I could hook my Ipod up to the other cig lighter. Well when I did this I noticed my signals were weaker than normal and that I actually had a save that was a LEO running C/O Ka band. There was almost no warning of him coming around the corner. The alert started at about 2 bars and ramped up pretty quickly. I also noticed that my K band false alerts were not even being picked up anymore. So my thought was great, my cord is now messed up. I figured I probably squished it with the console cover. I plugged it back into its normal spot and it still had horrible performance.

When I looked at the cord it looked fine. The weird thing is that the next day the range I was getting was insane. I am holding on to false alarms WAY longer than normal and when I went across a speed trap that is popular I got insane range that I have never even gotten before.

I have no idea what is happening but I am certainly not complaining. Is there any explanation for this? Maybe everyone should pinch their cords lol.

sounds strange, could be the weather or you cars battery power was lower that day then higher the next.

No this has been higher than ever before. Unless my car battery was always low. Which shouldn't be true I have had the same battery since I got my V1.

That would be a good excuse to hardwire it and go concealed display.

You'll never go back, trust me.

SuperSalad, it sounds like your detector is starting to go out of tune. But if the range is somehow increasing I guess you wouldn't wanna send it in for a check up.

I didn't read your original post carefully...my bad.

Sounds like it's time to send the detector for checkup or if you have a friend that has a V1, borrow their cord and see if that's the issue.

Also, are you running any custom programming on your V1? If not, try resetting the unit back to factory defaults.

Yea maybe it is time to send it in but seeing as the range has increased I think I will hold off for the time being...

And yes I have custom programming done to it. I will reset it to stock and see what happens.

And I will be hardwiring it once I get my new car. Well it's used but new to me!

Oh yea I forgot to add, I don't know anyone that has a V1. No one believes me when I tell them it's better than theirs.

Ya, most people just ask me if it just beeps and say it's annoying.

I tell em, it would also be annoying to hear the old famous line:

"This isn't an admission of guilt, just a promise to take care of the ticket".
