Default Laser Alert with No Arrows

Has anyone else experienced this? Not only does the laser warning make you jump, but with no arrows it makes me almost want to duck down too. This has happened 3 times now. :?

If you get a laser alert who cares about the arrows. Unless you have a laser jammer you're dead in the water anyway.

Your 3.825 arrow lights are busticated probably because of your modified lights.
I'll bet that they don't work on radar as well

I'm thinking a problem with your display.

Do the arrows light when you power up the unit (ALL LEDs should light during the startup sequence)?

Do they light during radar encounters?

Try the sequential LED test mode. Go into programming mode (hold the button for ~5 secs while turning on the unit). All LEDs should light. Hit the button. Firmware version should display. Hit the button through all the options, after the last programming option the display should start lighting LEDs sequentially, one at a time, repeatedly. If a particular LED doesn't light, or two light at once, you have a problem with the display.

Disconnect the remote display and see if the LEDs work properly on the main unit.

Lastly, test laser reception using a remote control.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

Unless I get a repeated or prolonged laser encounter I don't have any time to look at the display. By the time I've done my speed check while making sure I'm not going to get hit from behind (gotta love congested NE driving) the arrows are long gone.

kpatz - all lights work. I'll try the remote control test. Thanks.

That happens to me too. Even though the V1 sounds for about 1.5 seconds after the laser hit stops, if it's a brief hit I don't always catch the arrow before it goes dark. So far it's only happened in false alarm situations; every "real" Lidar hit I've had, I saw the cop before the V1 even went off, so the arrows were of little use then anyway.

In the "suggestions for future V1 enhancements" thread I posted a suggestion to keep the arrow lit for a couple seconds longer after a brief radar or laser hit. Or provide an instant-replay button.

That's not always true. For mobile laser measurement I agree with you. But for example here in switzerland they have in some tunnels (around Luzern, a city here in switzerland) new fixed laser measured speedtraps, and unlike mobile laser equipment these lasers are measuring (emitting laser) all the time. So V1 alerts usually 10-20 secs in advance !

Yeah it also depends on the vehicle, gun used etc. For example with my car against the Stalker LZ-1, I got consistent punchthroughs in the 500 foot range with VEIL only. If I get targeted at a greater distance, I should have some time to slow down before the cop gets a reading.

Judging from the results on other cars, even if I had a jammer, it would only buy me a couple hundred feet over what I already have. Of course, those couple hundred feet could mean the difference between a ticket or not. But I feel that at least in my case, just the V1 + VEIL does provide a level of protection against laser.
