I'm glad you are basing the sky falling in on something other than that silly test the original poster was referencing.

No doubt the 9500 is quite good. I'd like to see the current GOL radar testing to evaluate how good. In the meantime, I think I will take a 9500 and a V1 and put them in a mayonnaise jar in the back of a truck and drive by a Rite Aid to see which one is better.

I'm sure results with speed signs and door openers will be similar to properly mounted units and consistent testing methods. As you may be able to tell, this isn't life or death for me. Sorry if I have been irreverent towards the one true rd.

I'd like a top end unit for a decent price. It's kinda hard to evaluate all this "testing". Most people seem to have too much emotion invested in a particular product.

Apples to oranges, don't you think? The 9500CI is a remote-mount unit while the V1 is a window-mount unit. I don't think this test is formally fair though I'd expect the remote-mount, large unit to afford more luxuries (that include farther range) than for people who are not willing to mount a Prius sized object on their windshield...

At any rate, on the bright side this *WILL* put the spotlight on Mike V to make his unit live up to the new gold standard. I am sure he is up to the challenge and the coming year will be an exciting one for us RD owners.

Jdong is right. This next year, or less, will be amazing for the countermeasure community. I'm sure VR is working on something right now that will blow our socks off. Maybe even our pants to, who knows?

I hear that Mike Valentine is getting together with the makers of the Laser Interceptor to make the world's best concealed radar/laser detector and laser jammer all in one...now that would impress me.

No you don't Jazzy. We both know that Mike V. has stated that he will never make a laser jammer because it is "electronic warfare". Why would Mike V. go to Croatia anyways?

It does seem that the rd industry is starting to pass Valentine by... Bell & Escort raising the bar and even the lesser companies improving on their performance.

I'd love to seem him respond but after so many years waiting for a stealth V1 ... I dont think its in the cards
