I love how all the Belscort people crown the Escort 9500ci the "King" of the radar detectors when it will cost you $1600 not including installation and it comes with a crappy laser jammer that most people wouldn't buy for $100. I personally could not take my hard earned money and spend it on a failed laser jammer of RMR quality connected to a radar detector that is apparently, according to some testing, better than the V1.

That is like having a great woman that does everything you ask and more but she has bad breath and always smells like an ass sandwich...the bit** ain't worth it!!

The ZR4s got smoked at GOL 2008. That however is "worst case scenario" testing. That was my rental car. I personally chose that car because I knew it would be extremely difficult to protect and was meant to seperate the men from the boys. I think it did that. The ZR4s ended up in the boys catergory.

That however does not make them worthless unless your area uses the Stalker. In my area, there are no Stalkers, just Ultralytes and PL IIIs. When tested on my car, the ZR4s did pretty well.

9500ci Laser Jamming Test Summary

So, your analogy is a little off. The analogy should go more like this. Your girlfriend is the hottest girl in town, by far. And to go along with that, she doesn't talk too much, in fact, hardly at all, which is perfect. She only says something if she has something important to say, which is a total miracle. There might be times when you have to hang out with her ugly cousin, but at the end of the night, you get to go home with the hottie.

You're right. Some were, but others were just comparing the SENSITIVITY of the $1600 CI to the SENSITIVITY of the $400 V1. The SENSITIVITY of the CI (but not Tru-Lock) is also available in the $1100 STi-R, and is likely to become available in comparable dash-mounted units from Bel and/or Escort (e.g., $500 STi, I hope). The reason why SENSITIVITY is such a sensitive(!) issue is because this has always been the V1's main claim to fame. Let's be honest: many with V1s, including me, have grown to love the arrows; but SENSITIVITY that blew the others away is what originally sold me on the V1, and what has kept the V1 at the head of the pack. In difficult I/O situations like corners, hills, damp foliage, tricky LEOs, etc., SENSITIVITY can mean the difference between getting a useful warning and none at all. I hope and expect that VR (read: Mike V.) won't let that one go, at least not without a good fight.

Belscort has a $500 detector that still can't beat the V1 so they decided to build a $1600 radar/laser detector with a junky laser jammer built in. Now people with the Escort 9500ci can say that they have a more sensitive radar detector but it is $1200 more than a V1 and the Escort 9500ci laser jammer is crap so can you really trust it?

I would prefer the best of both worlds which is the V1 and a Laser Interceptor jammer which is less than the Escort 9500ci and it works better.
excellent post Jazzy!!!!!!!!!

I think we should reserve the title of "sensitivity king" until we have a shoot out. So the CI won in 1 test, but how about a battery of tests? Granted the CI looks awesome and I am not a V1 zombie, but I think both detectors deserve a fair shake. Let the games begin!
