I've decided to replace my 7 year old rd. I've done a lot of research on this site and was about to buy the V1 based on the 2007 GOL testing, no need for city use and my preference for the V1 feature set.
I'm also getting a laser jammer. No question on that. Per the 2008 GOL testing the LI is the only unit that is fit for it's intended purpose.
So now a bunch of Former V1 fans have been gloating about their new 9500ci's which are supposed to be vastly superior to the V1 in the sensitivity department.
I need some help sorting out the importance of this. Seems like as recently as last week the V1 was quite capable of doing the job. I travel on a level interstate with no curves. I understand that more sensitivity would be better, but how much better? I'm thinking neither unit will fail me, just one may give more margin.
We can put it in terms of dollars. A 9500 ci has useless jammers per the GOL testing. Over 60% of its encounters resulted in >500' PT's. They perform about like a Cobra rd. I can't/won't depend on them. Gotta have the L! with 2% PT over 500'.
So to float my boat including the extraordinary sensitivity I will need the $1,600 9500 ci and the 4 head $1,225 LI. Total $2,825.
The V1, remote display and LI is about $1,775. Since I'm not placing any value on other features, is the extra sensitivity worth over $1,000?
